The Michigan Harvest Gathering food drive is underway, this year virtually due to COVID. The annual effort kicked off on Tuesday as the Food Bank Council of Michigan announced a goal of 3 million meals and $330,000 for the drive’s 30th anniversary. The Harvest Gathering normally takes food donations through Michigan Secretary of State offices, but new precautions have organizers asking everyone to give online. An online competition among partner gropus will take place this year with a website that displays a leaderboard of contributions. Everyone is asked to go to the campaign’s website and make a purchase of a food donation. The site is MichiganFoodDrive.org. All of the donations go to local food banks around the state.
