Van Buren County Sees Incumbents Re-Elected

As in many places around the United States, the final results from Tuesday’s elections in Van Buren County are still being counted, but the county clerk’s office is reporting about 90% of the precincts.

The election action in the county included not only the presidential contest, but also the Congressional race in the Sixth District, and the Michigan House. In the 66th District, Republican state Representative Beth Griffin faced a challenge from Democrat Abigail Wheeler, and Griffin had a large lead heading into the morning. State Representative Mary Whiteford also had a strong lead in her district.

On the county level, there were contested Van Buren County Commissioner races in the 3rd District, the 5th District, and the 7th District. In the 3rd, Richard Godfrey led John Wagner by a comfortable margin. In the 5th, it was Edward Hellwege versus Randall Peat, and Peat had the lead heading into the morning. In the 7th, it was David Goldenberg versus Paul Schincariol with Schincariol holding a strong lead.

There were also several city, township, and school races being decided, and road millages in the city of Bangor and Hamilton Township. Check ElectionReporting.com to see the latest vote counts.
