New rules will go into effect for Michigan offices in the fight against COVID-19. Governor Gretchen Whitmer says the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration next week will issue the guidelines aimed at keeping office workers home.

“The employer shall create a policy prohibiting in-person work for employees to the extent that their work activities can feasibly be completed remotely,” Whitmer said.

There are 28 new and ongoing reported office outbreaks across the state. The governor says MIOSHA could fine companies up to $7,000 for failing to comply with the new rules.
