The South Haven city council will be asked Monday by City Manager Kate Hosier to form a committee to look into bringing back lifeguards. She says the program ended more than 20 years ago for several reasons. Those include staffing and financial, as there were liability concerns if someone drowned. Hosier says the only beaches on Lake Michigan that have lifeguards now are Silver Beach County Park and New Buffalo Municipal Beach, both in Berrien County.
