The South Haven City Council approved an addendum to the Café License Agreements for outdoor dining and alcohol to allow outdoor heaters and fans for a group of establishments downtown.
“If it can get a heater or two out there and make it somewhat warm as people are already dressed for winter anyway, hopefully they can utilize those spaces more often than without them,” says City Manager Kate Hosier. “It’s just one more thing we can do.”
The outdoor dining areas are on city property adjacent to the establishments and needed approval from the city for outdoor heaters. Hosier says the city wants to be helpful to local businesses in these tough times.
