Congressman Fred Upton is praising drug maker Pfizer and all of its staff who have made a COVID-19 vaccine possible. He tells WSJM News their efforts have been Herculean.

“Collectively, we actually have a vaccine that’s being put in people’s arms before a year is even over from when we first identified this terrible COVID-19 disease, “Upton said.

Noting Pfizer is based in Kalamazoo County, Upton says the company has communicated with him on its progress as the vaccine was developed. Will he get a shot?

“At some point, I will. I’m taking my turn, I’m not cutting in line. We know that healthcare providers need to go first, folks in nursing homes, first responders. The list is long.”

The first shots started coming to Michigan this week. Upton says vaccines from other companies are likely to follow.
