The COVID-19 pandemic has had some positive impacts, including helping people realize in many cases, they can work from anywhere. To that end, Cornerstone Alliance has offered money to people to move here to work called Move to Michigan. Christina Franks is their vice president of external affairs and says there is money available.

“It is $10,000 for singles or couples and then there’s an additional $5,000 if you have children that you’re going to enroll in a public school system,” says Franks.

She says there are also membership options to gyms, passes to the Senior PGA Championship, and more. Franks says the new residents are projected to drive more than $1.38 million dollars in new spending to the region.

“We’re really excited not just to be bringing new individuals and how it’s going to impact them, but more excited about how it’s going to positively impact southwest Michigan.”

Most of the applicants were from Chicago, but also include New York, Missouri, Florida, and Washington among others. More than 20 families were picked from over 300 applicants.
