Benton Harbor City Commissioners have approved the creation of a Citizen Review Board to provide oversight and increase transparency with the local police department. During a Monday meeting, commissioners heard support for the idea from several members of the public. The Citizen Review Board will be made up of 5 volunteers who will investigate allegations and make recommendations regarding the conduct of police in the community. It will act in an advisory capacity for the city commission. The matter was approved by the city Public Safety and Recreation Committee earlier this month.
