Governor Whitmer says there has been a lot of chatter particularly around the date of January 17th, but they have not heard of any specific threats against the Michigan Capitol. Whitmer says, though, that threats across the nation are deeply concerning.

“The insurgency that happened at the United States Capitol last week that led to the death of a Capitol police officer and a number of others and the false bomb threat that was made here at our own Capitol aim to intimidate and to threaten our our democracy,” says Whitmer.

Whitmer says the Michigan State Police are working with the National Guard and Lansing City Police and she’s confident that the state Capitol is safe.
