A survey on broadband availability in Berrien County will launch soon. During a meeting of the Berrien County Board of Commissioners this past week, Commissioner Teri Freehling said Merit Network out of Ann Arbor held a webinar on Monday with community leaders ahead of the survey’s rollout.

“We had a total of 38 attendees live and that link has now been posted to the broadband page, along with the survey,” Freehling said.

Merit has been hired by the county to handle the survey and assist with expanding broadband. Commissioner Ezra Scott said there has been strong interest in the survey.

“Of all the questions that we had, after the webinar, they were getting lots and lots of emails with more and more questions. And these are the people who can help us get the word out. So it was a success all the way around.”

The broadband survey will seek to document in a detailed way where high speed internet is available and is not available in Berrien County. The public survey will be launched on February 15, and then Meritt will analyze the data and do a community presentation in the spring.
