The city of Benton Harbor may be doing some bridge repairs. During a meeting on Monday, Benton Harbor City Commissioners gave the city manager approval to seek bids for repairs to bridges throughout the community. Chris Cook with Abonmarche told the commission inspections have identified the repairs needed.

“You have nine bridges, and each of those bridges has something to do to bring them up to code, and some of those issues have been addressed or named as priority issues, and others are maybe a little less critical but still important,” Cook said.

Cook said the types of repairs needed for different bridges vary. The expected cost of all the repairs is estimated at $326,000, but the commission’s vote was only to let the city manager seek bids. The bridges include those on North Shore Drive, Britain, Empire, 8th Street, Paw Paw Avenue, and Edgewater Drive.
