A 49-year-old Wisconsin man is being treated for injuries after he was shot by police in Van Buren County on Thursday night. The The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department says 911 got a call about a man cutting himself in a driveway in the 36,000 block of County Road 374 in Paw Paw Township around 9:30 p.m. The homeowners reported the man had broken into their home and that they did not know him. Before police arrived, the man ran off. A sheriff’s department deputy with a K9 and a Paw Paw police officer found the suspect, who still had the knife. The man approached the deputy and the officer while failing to comply with orders. Shots were then fired. The sheriff’s department says first aid was immediately given to the man, who was then taken to Bronson Hospital. The officer and the deputy are on paid administrative leave, per policy, while an investigation is conducted. The sheriff’s department says no further details will be released.
