Market Van Buren has announced it’s formed a new partnership with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. Director Zach Morris tells WSJM News the two will formally be working together to spur economic development in Van Buren and Cass counties.

“This is to help with the process of driving in resources locally, but also for Market Van Buren to be recognized as an organization they are working with for the purposes of economic development,” Morris said.

Morris says teaming up with the MEDC means Market Van Buren will have access to state resources.

“They have partnerships with organizations like Southwest Michigan First, the Right Place, Lakeshore Advantage, Cornerstone Alliance. What this does is it puts us in the same class as those organizations.”

Morris says a partnership with the MEDC could mean greater attraction projects, expansion projects, and helping businesses grow and diversity. Market Van Buren is an economic development organization and subsidiary of Kinexus Group that is charged with economic and community development in Van Buren and Cass counties.
