There will not be fireworks in South Haven over Independence Day this summer for the second straight year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. City leadership decided to cancel the annual show out of an abundance of caution as the show, displayed from South Haven’s North Pier, draws thousands of spectators to the waterfront. South Haven’s annual fireworks display is paid for by community donations and requires months of planning and coordination. That is done by South Haven police, South Haven Area Emergency Services along with local law enforcement agencies. The city says even though fireworks are cancelled, there are still things to do in the city and area. The hope is to bring them back in 2022.
