The Benton Township Planning Commission has approved the construction of a new 100,000 square foot building in the Cornerstone Industrial Park. The vote was Monday. Cornerstone Alliance says Michigan-based CBK Construction will start the project as soon as possible. Located next to the Southwest Michigan Regional Airport, the Cornerstone Industrial Park is intended for industrial and logistics operations. Cornerstone Alliance President Rob Cleveland says the project is possible thanks to work with partners that include CBK Construction, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, and Benton Charter Township. Benton Township Supervisor Cathy Yates says the new facility will generate new job opportunities for residents and grow the tax base. Cornerstone says an additional 30 acres of property is available for development which may be used in a second phase to attract more companies to southwest Michigan.
