Water and sewer rates in the city of St. Joseph and communities served by its water are going up in July. Finance director Deb Koroch says the reason is the city’s $16 million loan from 2018 to pay for the first phase of the Water Plant Strategic Capital Improvement Plan and the principle on the loan is now due.

“The increase would be about $6.68 for system water, $8.50 for sewer and $4.14 for system development which would equate to about $19.32 a quarter,” says Koroch

The rate hike is roughly 10%.
