With COVID-19 vaccine eligibility opening up to more people in Michigan soon, Congressman Fred Upton is encouraged to see light at the end of the tunnel. He tells WSJM News Michigan is going to be one of the first states to open enrollment to anyone 16 or older.

“As we are looking now at the county totals, and here in Berrien I saw over the weekend we’re just under 15% of our  population is now vaccinated, but the good news is that by opening that up so everybody can qualify, that means in fact that we’re going to have the supplies to make sure we get there,” Upton said. “So full speed ahead.”

Upton says southwest Michigan has played a key role in all of this, considering Pfizer is based here. As the state finally allows vaccines to all adults, he says it’s “welcome news and a positive step forward as we aim to restore our way of life.”
