Work is underway in the U.S. House on some immigration bills this week. Congressman Fred Upton tells WSJM News one addresses the status of Dreamers, or those brought into the country illegally when children and who now fear deportation.

“Most Americans, some polls show 85% to 90%, think that they are here, they come from all over the world, they’ve been here for a good length of time that we ought to have some type of status for them, and that legislation will be on the House floor this week as well,” Upton said.

Upton says there will likely also be a bill to help farmers get migrant workers. He says with the current crisis at the southern border, he thinks there should be comprehensive immigration reform, although he doubts the prospects of passage for such legislation.
