Ford Field in Detroit will become a mass COVID-19 vaccination clinic on Monday. Detroit Lions president and CEO Rod Wood says they’re proud to take part.

“Over the next eight weeks, Ford Field will become not just the home of the Detroit Lions, not one of America’s great concert venues and entertainment venues, but will be transformed into Michigan’s largest on-site inoculation clinic,” said Wood.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer says the state has already given over three-million vaccines.

“We continue to ramp up vaccinations, and I know that the goal of being together for the Fourth of July, having a barbecue, celebrating the independence of our nation, is a realistic goal where we can get together,” said Whitmer. “That’s one I am certainly looking forward to.”

Meijer and Henry Ford Health System are handling the inoculations. FEMA is handling the physical work to the stadium.
