Congressman Fred Upton was on hand as Pfizer broke ground on a massive facility expansion in Portage this week and says it will be a benefit to southwest Michigan’s economy. He tells us Pfizer is investing $500 million in the expansion, creating 500 new jobs.

“They’ll be looking at future drugs, and of course right across the street is Stryker, their headquarters, a major device manufacturer, and so this is going to be quite the corridor as we look at the future for drugs and devices being made here in Michigan,” Upton said.

Upton was joined by Senator Debbie Stabenow for the groundbreaking. He notes with Stryker nearby, the region is a major producer of medications and medical devices.
