Students with the Andrews University School of Architecture and Interior Design has been working with the city of Buchanan on creating a plan for the redevelopment of the downtown area and the north side of town, and they’ll show off their ideas with a presentation on April 28. The students, led by Professor Andrew von Maur, will begin their presentation at 5 p.m. at The Common in Downtown Buchanan. City officials are hoping the presentation gets a strong turnout as they want word about their plans to get around the community. City Manager Heather Grace says it’s a special time in Buchanan, and it’s “really inspiring to see the community come together and rally around this project.” Since January, the students have been having a conversation with residents, businesses, students, community groups, city leadership, and others about what they envision for the future of Buchanan. The April 28 engagement will be the unveiling of their vision.
