The Berrien County Road Department will start some grind and gravel construction projects next week in Chikaming Township and New Buffalo Township. It says the work will mean some temporary closures or traffic delays. The projects starting on Wednesday will include Brown Road between West East Road to the railroad crossing, Wilson Road between Brown Road and Wilson’s end, Locke Road between Union Pier Road and Red Arrow Highway, and Old M-60 between Behner Road and the New Buffalo city limits. Grind and gravel projects are intended to provide structure to the road base, which will be prime and double sealed later in the construction season. The work will provide greater stability and a smoother road surface. Drivers might want to seek alternate routes through the construction areas when the workers are on site.
