There will be another mural painted on the bluff stairs in St. Joseph this summer. During a city commission meeting this week, St. Joseph Today Director Amy Zapal said she’s working with the same artist who painted last year’s butterflies on the stairs.
“I trust her concept, I trust her treatment of our space and our community, and I think the parks board said as long as I let them look at it first and they like it, they’re good for it as long as you approve the installation of a temporary mural on the bluff stairs,” Zapal said.
Zapal said she’d like to get the stair mural up a bit earlier this year to attract more interest to the downtown area. For now, the commission gave Zapal the green light to proceed with this year’s display. She did not reveal what it will be.
