The Chikaming Township Parks Board has voted to allow residents and visitors to bring their dogs to township beaches during certain times of day. Dogs will be allowed at the beaches from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. each day under the plan. This is for a trial period to see if it reduces the number of people who just ignore the beach dog ban. However, the parks board’s six to one vote still has to be approved by the Chikaming Township Board of Trustees. If the rule change is allowed, dog owners will be asked to bring a bag to the beach with them and their pooches.
