Legislation from state Representative Pauline Wendzel is aimed at helping restaurants and bars hurt by COVID-19 by treating them fairly. Wendzel tells WSJM News it would reimburse and drop some fees they have to pay.

“It waives all liquor license fees for 2021,” Wendzel said. “We know our small businesses were hit very hard during the last year, and our bars and restaurants were one of the worst hit. This is just a way that we can help them out.”

Wendzel says it isn’t fair to make a restaurant pay for a liquor license when they were forced to be closed. Her bill is part of a larger legislative package with a similar theme. Other bills in the package would reimburse businesses and individuals that had to pay for public health licenses, occupational licenses, and skilled trade licenses.
