Congressman Fred Upton thinks a compromise on infrastructure between the Biden administration and Republicans in Congress will be possible soon. He tells WSJM News there have been ongoing discussions, and it appears both sides do want to pass an infrastructure package.

“As a member of the Problem Solvers Caucus, we have an infrastructure task force,” Upton said. “We met several weeks ago with a number of governors and U.S. senators of both parties, Republicans and Democrats. We’re making some progress, and I’d like to think that when Congress comes back next month that we’ll be ready to move forward.”

Upton says the administration has come down from a price tag of about $2.1 trillion to about $1.7 so far. The latest news out of Senate Republicans was a proposal for just under $1 trillion this week. Upton says an infrastructure package should include money for roads and bridges, as well as the electric grid and broadband.
