JBS, the world’s largest meat processor was forced to shut down nine beef plants in the United States this week, including one in Plainwell, following a cyberattack. George Quakenbush is the Executive Director of the Michigan Beef Industry Commission and says the Michigan facility is now back online.

“We’ve seen these kinds of attacks on different industries, it’s an unfortunate part of the world we live in,” says Quakenbush. “But hopefully we can get past it. Beef farmers and ranchers as well as the whole supply chain are incredibly resilient. We’re going to keep supplying beef to consumers around the state of Michigan, across the country, and around the world.”

Quakenbush says the attack will not have a significant impact on the supply of beef in the state.
