After backlash for moving Secretary of State branches to making appointments online only, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson announced some changes this morning.

“We have immediately added 350,000 new appointments for branch offices. They’re online and available between now and the end of the fiscal year, September 30. Half of them are already available in the system, and the other half will be released every weekday as next day appointments.”

Benson says people can also walk up to some larger branch offices to see if an appointment is available with a greeter. If not, that greeter will help them make a future appointment. She also called on the legislature to approve $25-million in federal COVID-19 funding so they could add more hours and staff to deal with a backlog caused by the pandemic.
