West Michigan-based Speedrack Products Group has broken ground on its new manufacturing facility. The company is investing $65 million in the plan, which is expected to create 160 jobs. Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who was among several state officials there to welcome Speedrack to the city of Walker, says her administration is doing a lot to attract and retain workers.

“We have helped businesses through the Michigan Economic Jumpstart, we are moving forward on training,” says Whitmer. “We also are trying to use that $300 as an incentive to get people back into the workforce. We’re taking it on on a number of fronts.”

The governor says closing the skills gap is another priority as the state works to get more people into good-paying jobs.
