The Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber is planning to celebrate the reopening of Michigan and the nation’s independence with a new event next month. Chamber Events Director Sarah Spoonholtz tells us the Independence Celebration will be at Watermark Solarium in Stevensville on Friday, July 2 from 5:30 to 11 p.m.

“We’ve been looking for opportunities to get people back together in person and thought it would be a great time,” Spoonholtz said. “Not only are we celebrating our independence with the Fourth of July holiday, but also it’s kind of an independence celebration of restrictions being lifted as well.”

The event will feature music from Mark Ficks and the Significant Others, barbeque from local food truck Wood, Stock and Grill, beer and cocktails from Watermark Brewing Company, plus yard games, door prizes, and more. Spoonholtz says Watermark recently converted a warehouse into an open space for events, and the Independence Celebration will be there and indoors. It will be free to attend.
