Flood Warning Issued For Van Buren, Allegan Counties

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for areas of Michigan that include Van Buren and Allegan counties. The National Weather Service has released the following:

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a Flood Warning for Montcalm County in central Michigan,
Ionia County in south central Michigan, Allegan County in southwestern Michigan, Barry County in southwestern Michigan, Kalamazoo County in southwestern Michigan, Kent County in southwestern Michigan, Ottawa County in southwestern Michigan, Van Buren County in southwestern Michigan, until 9:15PM EDT Saturday.

At 3:10PM EDT, Radar and automated rain gauges indicate heavy rain moving back into the area. Some locations saw 1 to 3 inches of rain earlier today, with totals of 5-6 inches over the last few days. Soils are saturated, and additional rain will likely overwhelm small creeks and rivers, and may flood into yards, streets, and some buildings as the afternoon and evening continues.

An additional 1 to 2 inches of rain is possible over the next several hours.
