The state House and Senate are on a break for the next two weeks, leaving without passing a state budget.

“What we’re seeing is just the inability of the Legislature to act in a crisis,” says House Democratic leader Donna Lasinski. “We are seeing the governor step forward and working with President Biden to get FEMA dollars here as quickly as possible. The help as we could give as state government to people in need, however, is held up.”

She says the games being played by Republican Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey and House Speaker Jason Wentworth are at the expense of the working families depending on them to do their jobs.
