Did COVID-19 originate in a lab? Congressman Fred Upton thinks it’s possible. He and other members of Congress met last week with former CDC Director Robert Redfield about the possibility that the disease is man-made. Upton says he came away from the conversation with more questions.

“I’m not at all convinced that this is coming from some wet market in China, but in fact, likely developed in a lab someplace,” Upton said. “I don’t know exactly how it got out, but not getting any cooperation, really, from the Chinese authorities really sheds light that this thing was developed in a lab there, at least to me.”

Upton says he and other members of Congress have written to the National Institutes of Health and to the Biden administration saying they’re not satisfied with the information provided so far. They’re going to pursue more information when they get back to DC.
