Some normalcy is back in the city of St. Joseph, as the city commission has held its first in-person meeting since March 2020. Mayor Mike Garey opened the meeting with a thank you.

“I would just like to thank all the folks who have received their vaccine. Because of all the work that the city, the state, and the county have done, we’ve reached the threshold where we can meet live.”

He encouraged people who haven’t been vaccinated for COVID-19 to do actual research.

“I know some folks still have concern about the vaccines,” said Garey. “I hope they will talk to their neighbors and learn more about the vaccines because we don’t want to go back into Zoom meetings again. We don’t want another shutdown. So thanks everyone for working together and allowing us to reopen.”

The city commission meeting lasted a little under two hours.
