A software fix didn’t work, so now General Motors is going to recall 69,000 Chevy Bolt electric vehicles for a second time to replace battery modules. The 2017-19 models have been linked to nine fires and two injuries. GM spokesman Dan Flores says they will do all they can to get the recall repairs completed as quickly as possible.

“Clearly we understand we’re going to need more batteries to complete the necessary repairs on this recall. We’re taking very aggressive steps to look for ways to build more batteries.”

GM says until the 2017-19 Bolts can be repaired, owners should park them outside after charging, not charge them over 90%, and make sure they aren’t drained to less than 70 miles of range.
