An alert for those planning to travel to Canada when border restrictions lift next Monday. The Detroit-Windsor Tunnel will no longer be accepting cash at the border on the U.S. side. Tunnel spokesperson Neil Belitsky spoke with Michigan News Network.

“I think it’s going to be a little confusing at all of the international crossings, partially because of the customs regulations that have to do with COVID,” Belitsky said.

Belitsky says they are not sure how many people to expect, or who will be crossing the border for the first time in 15 months. The Canadian side will still be accepting cash through December. Those traveling to Canada will have to download a special app and fill in their vaccine information. There are no special rules for Americans returning back to the U.S.
