I&M Releases Outage Update

Indiana Michigan Power is expecting more of those who have no service in Berrien County to be back online by the end of Thursday. I&M has released the following:

Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) crews are working long hours, in the heat and humidity, restoring power to thousands of customers who lost service this week due to multiple storm systems. As of 4:00 p.m., there are more than 15,000 customers without power – a majority of those are in the hard-hit Elkhart County area.

OUTAGE NUMBERS (as of 4:00 p.m.):

Overall, more than 64,000 customers lost service due to four storm systems unleashing heavy rain, lightning and wind gusts exceeding 60 miles per hour. More than customers 48,000 have been restored since Tuesday morning.

CREW AND DAMAGE UPDATE:

More than 1,000 workers are in neighborhoods restoring power to homes, businesses and critical community assets, like schools.
Along with crews from Appalachian Power, AEP Ohio, and the Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO), I&M employees are
working in backyards, neighborhoods and hard to reach areas to restore power. These crews consist of line workers, damage
assessors, tree crews, meter specialists, and contractors. Plus, even more employees are working behind the scenes in our 24/7
customer operation center and supporting crews in the field. So far, 50 broken poles, 25 damaged transformers, 20 damaged
broken pole crossarms and 260 individual downed spans of power lines have been discovered.

ESTIMATED TIMES OF RESTORATION (ETRs):

Below are the estimated times of restorations.

 90% of Buchanan and Benton Harbor area customers are estimated to be restored by 10 p.m. tonight.

 90% of Fort Wayne and South Bend area customers are estimated to be restored by 10 p.m. tonight.

 90% of Elkhart area customers are estimated to be restored by 6 p.m. tomorrow (Friday) night.
 90% of Three Rivers, Mich. area customers are estimated to be restored by 10 p.m. tomorrow (Friday) night.
