In an effort to reduce drunk and drugged driving as Labor Day approaches, law enforcement will work to get those drivers off the roadways between now and September 6th. Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning spokesman Dennis Raymo says they’ve also seen a nearly 2% drop in seatbelt use.

“By having this enforcement campaign, we’re hoping to address some of these things, including seat belt use, speeding, and impaired driving.”

Raymo says last Labor Day, there were more than 1,800 crashes and 15 people were killed. Of those fatal crashes, he says eight involved alcohol or drugs.
