Detroit Tigers Hall of Famer and Tigers broadcaster Jack Morris has been suspended indefinitely for an offensive comment made during Tuesday’s game against the Los Angeles Angels. Bally Sports Detroit says Morris will also undergo bias training. During the sixth inning, in reference to Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani, Morris spoke in a tone that mocks English-speaking Asians. Roland Huang is the Secretary for the Detroit Chapter of the Association of Chinese Americans. He told Michigan News Network this kind of incident is nothing new.

“It happens so often and so I think people in the Asian American community can just say we’re tired of it happening from time to time, just the continuous march of belittling, people of a certain category of American,” Huang said.

Huang says he accepts Morris’s apology, and he hopes the Hall of Famer has learned a lesson. He added he does not believe Morris should be fired for the comment.
