Congressman Fred Upton says he is extremely concerned about the situation at the nation’s southern border. He’s seen the footage out of Texas with Haitian migrants being chased by border patrol agents.
“It is horrific to watch,” Upton said. “The signal was sent early by this administration that they were going to change the protocols that the Trump administration had on asylum and other issues which has allowed for the influx of hundreds of thousands into our southern border,” Upton said. “I have co-sponsored legislation to reverse those, but the footage earlier this week of border control agents on horseback with what looked like whips needs to be addressed.”
Upton says he’s anxious to see how the situation unfolds. He tells us it underscores the need for immigration reform and to provide resources to border patrol agents so that they can properly do their jobs.
