PNC Bank is supporting a bill making its way through Michigan Legislature that would make financial literacy part of school curriculum. PNC Regional Vice President Ric DeVore spoke to Michigan News Network about the bill.

“Even people who are college graduates sometimes don’t understand how to do a 1040 EZ form,” DeVore said. “Literacy is so important. You and I grew up where it came from mom and dad, but now we really have to supplement that and get people understanding credit and the responsibility of credit.”

DeVore says lack of financial education can hurt people applying for mortgages or trying to get other forms of credit.
