New legislation being introduced in Lansing aims to help women rejoin the workforce amid the COVID-19 pandemic. State Representative Laura Pohutsky of Livonia is one of the women pushing the package. She told Michigan News Network what’s included in the bills.

“Paid parental leave, including for adoption and medical leave for miscarriages, making sure people know what family leave polices are when they interview for jobs or if they become pregnant or their partner becomes pregnant throughout the course of their employment,” Pohutsky said.

Pohutsky says paid sick leave is also included in the 12 bill package. It has been submitted and referred to the appropriate committees.
