Lear Corporation broke ground Monday on a brand new factory that will be built on Detroit’s east side. Mayor Mike Duggan says the factory will make seats.

“Lear Corporation made this decision. 400 good paying jobs in which Detroiters get first interviews,” says Duggan. “This is how we break the cycle of intergenerational poverty in the city by making good paying jobs available to the residents of the city.”

The factory is being built on a spot that once held an abandoned Hudson Motors factory built over a century ago.
