The Berrien County Road Department and the Cass County Road Commission have teamed up to improve local roads. The Berrien County Road Department tells us they’ve embraced cooperation by working on a prime and double sealcoating project in Cass County. The Berrien entity operates, runs, and maintains its own sealcoating crew while the Cass County group operates, runs, and maintains its own asphalt paving crew. Cass inquired if Berrien’s sealcoating crew could work on a prime and double sealcoating project for Nubour Road. The Berrien County Road Department staff worked with their Cass County counterparts to use a limestone aggregate in the operation. The operation took an existing unpaved road, Nubour Road, from gravel to a sealcoat surface. The Berrien County Road Department says the cooperative project helped provided benefit to Cass County drivers, and also enabled Berrien road staff to explore a different aggregate material for future sealcoat projects.
