Lazy Ballerina Winery in St. Joseph is moving its tasting room to a new location that’s just a few doors down from its current location. The St. Joseph City Commission signed off on the move this past week and signaled as much to the Michigan Liquor Control Commission. The Lazy Ballerina tasting room will relocate to 321 State Street, at the northeast corner of State and Broad Street. The winery’s Lauren Kniebes tells WSJM News they’ve outgrown their location at 315 State Street.

“We’re able to fit more customers in our new tasting room, we’re doubling the size of our tasting bar, and we’re increasing our square footage in our facility as well,” Kniebes said. “We’ll have more room for events and seating and tastings, and it will just better fit our needs.”

The winery will also be able to move some furniture into the new space, making for a more casual atmosphere. As part of its request to the city commission Monday, Lazy Ballerina’s application also requested an update to its membership in the downtown St. Joseph social district. They hope to make the move by March of next year.
