This could be the week the U.S. House votes on the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill already approved by the Senate months ago. Congressman Fred Upton tells WSJM News House Speaker Nancy Pelosi continues to hold back the bill. He’s planning to vote for it.

“I think the votes are there to pass it,” Upton said. “They have a number of Republicans who are going to vote for it, for sure. This is the bill that passed 69 to 30 in the Senate way back in August. It includes money for roads and bridges, $15 billion to replace lead lines in communities across the country, broadband, improving our energy security. It’s limited to that, and it’s paid for.”

Upton says Pelosi is still trying to “thread the needle” on a $3.5 trillion budget bill and hasn’t allowed the infrastructure vote while occupied with that. He believes a vote on the smaller bill could be as soon as Wednesday. He adds the larger bill will have no Republican support in either the House or the Senate.
