Winter is coming, and if you’re a homeowner you want to be prepared. Greg Shulman is the director of sales for 1-800-Hansens. He told Michigan News Network this week the first step to winterizing your home is to check for leaks or holes in the windows or doors.

“You can do it at night,” Shulman said. “You go outside when it’s dark. Turn on the lights in your home and see if you have light coming out of the windows, coming out of the doors.”

Shulman says its also extremely important to change furnace filters inside. He recommends making sure your gutters are clean outside to prevent water damage in the spring.
