They’re overworked and burned out. That’s what officials from various police agencies told members of a state appropriations committee in Lansing on Wednesday. Bob Stephenson is the director of the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police, and spoke to the committee.

“We are having basically a crisis,” Stephenson said. “We’re hearing it from out police chiefs across the state about recruitment and retention.”

186 police agencies out of 582 in the state have job openings. State representatives said they would see what they could do to help police agencies.
