With the rise in COVID-19 and flu cases, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is issuing a face mask advisory to prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses during the holidays. Health director Elizabeth Hertel says it’s about keeping people as healthy as possible.

“One of the most effective ways to do that, the most effective way to do that, we know, is for everyone who’s eligible to get vaccinated. If you’ve been vaccinated and are eligible for a booster shot, go get your booster shot today.”

Everyone five and older can get a vaccination. State health officials say you should be fully vaccinated before traveling for the holidays, they also recommend you get tested for COVID-19 before and after your trip.
