The Berriens County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after an inmate was found dead at the Berrien County Jail. The department says the man was found dead shortly before 9 a.m. on Saturday. The inmate had previous medical conditions and was housed in a medical cell by himself. Michigan State Police were requested to conduct an investigation into the death in coordination with the WMed Medical Examiner’s Office. The deceased has been identified as 42-year-old David Cortez Wright of Benton Harbor. No additional information has been released.
